8/4/2016

Kiltered Productions had a blast this week in Las Vegas at the 70th annual UFVA conference. Above - we take a coffee break with a stylized selfie.
On Monday, we screened A Wheel out of Kilter together for the first time since a rough cut screening in 2014. It received an enthusiastic response from professor Brett Levner of University of Nevada Las Vegas. Thanks, Brett for your kind words!

On Wednesday, we screened A Man of God to a thoughtful and somewhat spiritual response from Shinyoung Kim from Columbia College Chicago. Thanks, Shinyoung, for such a dedicated read of the film! To the left, Matthew participates in a Q&A with fellow filmmakers and respondents.
We presented papers as parts of panels. Ross presented his paper, "Teaching Racist, Sexist Student Films in the Production Classroom: Fighting Fire with Fire, and Matthew presented his talk, "Modern Rural Horror and Male Anxiety: The Fear of Losing Power" throughout the week.

And we reunited with our filmmaker friends like Lucas Ostrowski, Thomas Castillo, Stephen Crompton, and Joe Kraemer. We even got to spend an evening with Jack Sholder, director of A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2 (the most interesting of all the series), The Hidden (the best Kyle MacLachlan alien film since Dune), and Alone in the Dark (the scariest Jack Palance and Martin Landau teamup that Tim Burton never dreamt). Overall, a fine week. Looking forward to next year!
